What do weddings look like during a pandemic?

What do weddings look like during a pandemic? They look different and yet they look the same. We are celebrating love which is always beautiful! This was the first wedding I did during the pandemic. We had custom masks, practiced social distancing, and created a magical night completely outdoors!

Making social distancing intimate is more challenging than one might think. Creating spaces that invite people to sit and enjoy each others company while least six feet apart takes some planning. Fortunately we had a pool as part of the landscape which allowed us to space guests without making it look planned.

Thankfully certain things remain the same…Dad’s still walk their daughters down the aisle. With proper planning it is easy seat families or pods together, if you have been isolating together you can be seated together! Do not mix groups that is a thing of the past for now.

The most important part of the wedding is the couple, keeping them safe and happy is my biggest goal! This couple was great they kept their guest list to under the CDC guidelines and all of the vendors followed the rules. We had a safe and wonderful event!

I learned with the proper team, and preparation a COVID-19 wedding is not only possible but can be fabulous! Thank you Whitney Fox for these amazing images.

Thank you to everyone involved. The family was wonderful, Churchill Catering (Portland ME), Griffin & Griffin Lighting (Scarborough ME), Whitney Fox Photography (Portland ME), & My Celia Bedilia team all made the event seamless.

CREATING SPACE FOR YOURSELF

I believe that it is more important than ever to create a beautiful space for yourself. We all need a place to get away from everything, and the space to reconnect with ourselves.

All this time at home has given me time to look at my house and ask myself if it is working for me? My kids and husband are all home now. My home is now a gym, workspace, movie theater, school, library, restaurant, and more! I had to go outside to find my own space. I have been working on my backyard, changing it from my dog’s area to my garden retreat. In October I added a pergola, in April and May I began the process of adding several garden beds, including a shade garden, raised vegetable beds, and three flower beds.

How are you making space for yourself? Let me know by commenting or liking the post.

5 Inexpensive Ideas to Refresh Your Home & Life

I do not think I am alone when I say we all need a little refresh right now. I am low on event and floral design projects due to COVID-19, which means money is not flowing in, and I am home all the time. I have spent most of my time off in the garden. I have created five new gardens beds in my backyard. I used all seeds and split plants from my front yard and transplanted then to the back. My husband is a banker and loves that I have become thrifty…I will not tell him it is temporary. Today I am focusing on my interior for the first time in months. I needed a little refresh, and I thought I would share my inexpensive ideas. I hope you enjoy them!

Flowers always make my home look clean and cared for. I will go out to the garden after I clean my house and bring in some flowers!

Fresh paint is an incredible way to bring new life to your space. It will cost you $40+ a gallon, but it gives you a big bang for your buck!

I love container gardening; you can do this anywhere if you have a window you can have a garden. I love getting my hands dirty and watching seeds, seedlings, or plants thrive. You can spend just a few dollars to get huge rewards.

Flea Markets are great places to go right now, grab your mask and hand sanitizer, and get out hunting for that statement piece you have been longing to find.

This suggestion is my husband’s favorite because it costs nothing. Rearrange your rooms, try something new, bring a piece of furniture from one space into another. I am moving a chair from my guestroom down to my family room, and moving a sofa from one area to another…moving things motivates me to clean and declutter, and it refreshes the space.

Which of these ideas inspires you to create beauty? What could you do to refresh your home?

I would love to hear from you, please let me know by commenting or liking my post.

Thank you for stopping by as always I appreciate you visiting my site!

Garden Renovation

I am taking this COVID-19 down time as an opportunity to rehab my backyard. My front garden is beautiful…now it is time to focus on the back! I can not wait to get started. The vision board above has some of my ideas. I already have a wonderful pergola. I am going to add raised beds, stone paths, a gate to the woods, shade garden, cutting garden, fire pit, and a fence made of old pallets!

Do you have any ideas for me? what do you think is a must in a garden? I have been binge watching Garden Rescue, Roots & Refuge Farm and P. Allen Smith on YouTube. I am ready to give this the old college try.

Wish me luck and please help me with any advice, tips, questions. Please use the comment section to speak to me!

STAY AT HOME: CREATE, COOK, PLAY

This Spring, you may not be entertaining family for Passover or Easter, but you can do this project. Although we are sheltering in place, it does not mean we are not celebrating. Bring life into your home with this centerpiece. I am going to my local nursery (Skillins.com); they are doing curbside pick-ups now. So I will be getting the supplies I need to create some urns for my front door and a centerpiece for my kitchen island. As always, my puppy Georgia is my shadow, cleaning, planting, planning for the upcoming wedding season.

Thank you all for stopping by. I hope you are well. Please send me photos of your creations. Let me know if you like the post by commenting or liking it!

Stay healthy, safe, creative and most importantly stay home!

Now more than ever we need to relax.

I know this is a tall order but start by breathing slowly…count to four as you take a deep breath through your nose, release more slowly through you mouth to a count of six. I also use music and exercise to help me relax. I am currently listening to my favorite singer Andrea Bocelli’s duet “If Only” with Dua Lipa. His voice washes the stress from my body.

Please take care of yourself now. We need to remember that this too shall pass. We will create, work, love, travel and prosper again. I know it is hard but we are strong! Hold your family and friends close, read good books, binge watch shows, do puzzles, meditate, eat well, have a glass of wine, be thankful, have faith.

Love you all. XOXO

I stand with Italy

I love Italy, and my heart is breaking for my home away from home! Stay healthy, enjoy your family, stay home!

We can all do our part to keep this from spreading by staying home. I am virtually traveling by watching travel shows, reading blogs and books!

Please stay safe & healthy.

Finding Joy In Everyday Tasks

I have been on a personal journey over the last year and a half. My goal was to remove negativity to make space for more joy and gratitude. I started with a meditation class; meditation did not come naturally to me. I grew up in a loving but traditional family. Meditation and self-reflection were too new-age for my parents. So I need help with this concept. I took a class that opened me up to the beautiful world of inner peace. The practice of meditation has helped me change the way I react to external stresses. I am now taking the next step and trying to find joy in everyday tasks. I have committed to spending time outside in nature; to be honest, some of this is due to my new puppy Georgia, but I am enjoying being outside even in the pouring rain or freezing temperatures! I am also trying to learn from Marie Kondo and her method of decluttering. I realize that there is a connection between a cluttered home/workspace and a cluttered mind. I love Jay Shetty’s podcasts, and if you have not heard of him, I recommend looking up his videos on youtube. He suggests we create more positive experiences in our lives, and for me, that starts at home. I want to not only create a beautiful clutter-free lifestyle for myself but also my clients. I want everyone to benefit from the power of an uplifting environment.

Today I am going to tackle the category (as Marie Kondo suggests, choose a category not a room) of clothing. I was going to start with paper to clean up my office, but, Konmari method teaches that you need to learn the techniques slowly. Clothes are easier to organize and I am looking for immediate gratification!

I will find joy in today by spending time in nature, meditating, working (I love my job), and cleaning my closets.

What will bring you joy today? Let me know by commenting or like my post. Thank you for stopping by. Wish me luck!

This is the place that sparks the most joy in my life! I love Rome!

REDISCOVER YOURSELF

I truly believe travel allows us a unique opportunity to reconnect with ourselves. I love Italy, as you know, but even a day trip will do the trick! This morning I am going to Boothbay, ME about an hour from home. Wayne Dyer said, “when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” I agree. My father always used to say, perspective is everything. So on this cold Maine winter day, I am going to change the way I look at things and discover the beauty within my state. Travel even a short trip can help you rediscover yourself!

Sometimes I need to use visualization to travel. I can not be in Europe all the time, so I meditate and take myself to my favorite destinations. I love courtyards and fountains they are often part of my visualization!

I am however planning my retreats to Europe! Come discover Europe with me! We will learn about culture through food, art, architecture, and people.

How do you feel about travel? I surround myself with fellow travelers, but I understand some people do not like to travel at all! Are you a lover of travel? Let me know how you feel by commenting on this post!

Have a lovely day! Remember perspective is everything.

XOXO Celia

Inspire others by living your best life

What makes you happy? Family, friends, work, home, travel and my dogs are the things that make me happy. I have committed to being grateful for something each day. I am grateful for sleep these days with a new puppy who rises well before the sun, I am thankful for my comfortable bed.

These are my goals, hopes and dreams for 2020.

1. EXPLORE MORE & LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY!

2. EAT EVERYTHING IN MODERATION.

3. READ, WRITE, COMMUNICATE & MEDITATE MORE.

4. TRAVEL MORE…TO ROME AND BEYOND!

5. EMBRACE LOVE!

6. THE BIGGEST GOAL…LIVE TO INSPIRE!

My goals for 2020 are simple. Enjoy life more, and stress less! Live in a way that inspires people to enjoy their own lives more!

Please share your goals by commenting on this post! Thank you for stopping by. Best, Celia

Love more, live more

This year, I am simplifying life. Less is more. My New Years’ resolution this year is to love and live more. To be present in my life and to be grateful every day for all that I have. I am so blessed to have such a large and wonderful family. My husband and I are both the youngest of five so our families are huge! I am taking the next year to enjoy every day and to find at least one thing to be grateful for.

What are you committed to this year? I wanted to pick something I could stick to. I wanted to choose a positive goal, what is more positive than love?

Ok let me know your thoughts by liking or commenting on this post.

I wish you all great happiness.
